Climate change has become an ever worrying problem within the last few years. With the melting of the glaciers, wildlife homes being disturbed, deforestation, pollution, and rising seawater levels. And these are just some of the problems that climate change poses. Even though if you, yourself want to help save the environment and be as eco-friendly as possible you just can’t find the right way that works for you or is practical for you. Well here are 5 affordable and easy simple life tweaks you can do to help save the world.

№1 Increase your plant intake

I don’t mean become a vegetarian or go vegan, I simply mean reduce the amount of meat and dairy products you consume, to a level that suits you. The production of both meat and dairy products accounts for a whopping 14% of all emissions produced that negatively affect climate change. That's well over 1/10.

So if you make a very simple and easy change to your lifestyle by choosing to not have meat one day of the week or only go through one tub of ice cream every two weeks, your little contribution will help the world you live in. Potentially it could also help with your health because too much meat is not good for your health either and has been the cause of many early and preventable deaths in the UK, which could have ended a different way if people followed a more plant/low-meat based diet.

№2 Ditch your car more often

Something so simple and beneficial, for both you and the environment. The simple decision of choosing to walk that 15 minutes to the shop instead of driving, cycling to work getting that exercise in first thing in the morning, and then getting to relax on the way home with a bike. If that's not an option, try carpooling with your friends, this can be fun in itself and beneficial or try public transport its there for a reason.

If you live in a city, like a lot of people you’ll notice city bikes parked around which you can rent and enjoy for the day, riding around the city instead of driving.

Cars and vehicles contribute to 28.2% of global emissions, so making that conscious choice, not only is very good for your health but will help bring down the overall production of emissions.

№3 Donate

Donation is a great way to help the fight against global warming, especially if you're not in the position to change much about your lifestyle. So donation is a great option. By doing this you’re allowing other people to help the environment, on your behalf. By planting trees, recycling products, and helping wildlife.

№4 Go eco-electric

One of the first things people think of when you hear ‘ways to reduce your carbon footprint’, is to reduce the amount of electricity you use. Over the last 5 years, the use of solar panels has increased drastically in the UK. There are now enough solar panels in the UK to power 18 million homes. Also, the efficiency of solar panels has increased by 15–20%, paving the way for the future of solar energy. But using solar panels isn’t the only choice there are many other sources of renewable energy available for use. But if you are not in the position to make this change you can also make do with what you have by making sure you turn the lights off when you’re not using them, turn off appliances, making sure the heating or air conditioning isn’t on when you don’t need them.

2% of the world's population are now powered by solar or renewable energy sources, that's 150 million households. Could you be next?

№5 Recycling

I know, you’ve heard it 100 times maybe even more, but there's a reason you have because it is so important. Recycling is so vital to reduce the waste that is produced and also, so many companies are going plastic-free nowadays which results in fewer factories producing plastic leading to fewer fossil fuels having to be burnt in the process. As society is evolving constantly so many more things have become recyclable, so every time you’re about to throw a container away or so wrapping check the back to see if it has a recycle sign on the back and if it does RECYCLE it.

A great example of where you can help out is by using reusable bags for when you go shopping, it has become so normal and popular to now do this over the last few years which is great (factory direct promos) estimates that one reusable bag replaces around 500 single used plastic bags a year, which is phenomenal.

So just imagine if we did this with everything we used and recycled things like cans, containers and more how much waste would be saved?

Unfortunately, one person can’t save the planet but one is better than nothing, do your bit for the planet, it does a lot for us, it's time to start looking after it like we should have done years ago.
